Social Circle’s James Erskine Analyses Twitter’s Struggles on BBC News

James Erskine, Strategy Director of The Big Shot and Director of Social Circle discussed Twitter’s latest financial results on BBC News, speculating on what the future holds for the social media company after another set of disappointing revenue figures.

Erskine mused how people “use Twitter like a news feed” and the platform “needs engagement” if it is to generate earnings similar to its social media competitor Facebook. Interestingly the number of regular users on Twitter has increased during the last quarter, and Erskine attributed this to Twitter’s ability to host “fierce political discourse and debate” in the wake of US President Donald Trump’s election and subsequent inauguration.
